Last night I saw Avengers: Age of Ultron, which I have been excited for since the first outing of multiple super heroes in one film in Avengers. First off, let’s just look at the incredible line up of people that make an appearance in this film:

Yes, that is almost 20 big named actors in the film, there may even be more, but those are the ones that I spotted. What an ensemble cast. Hats off to Joss Whedon, it can’t have been easy to manage all of those egos! Especially when the first six are the main stars of the film and the rest are fighting for screen time.
Now that is out of the way, let’s talk about the film. I don’t want to give anything away, as you really have to see this, but hopefully I can help paint a pretty picture for you.
The first film was great, it was funny, packed full of action, gave each of the cast a fair amount of screen time and gave us a brief background, where needed of the characters. Let’s face it, as one of the biggest box office movies ever, it is a tough one to live up to, but I think the team have done a great job with this sequel.
Age of Ultron is funnier than its predecessor, but without being slapstick, or turning it into a comedy action film. It has its dark moments too, and plenty of action, in fact the film opens right in on the action. I would say that is the only flaw in my eyes. We know that Thor, Iron Man and Captain America have all been busy with their own films since they team were last together, and they didn’t really pop up in each others movies (note there was a kind of Captain America appearance in Thor when Loki turns into him). So for me jumping straight into the action of them working together again, as if they have been doing it all along wasn’t the best platform to kick this off. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it starting with the action, but I thought there might be a bit of a getting in touch, maybe a Whatsapp group message started by Thor “Hey mortal Avengers, I need to get Loki’s sceptre back from your realm and I could use some back up, you guys free tomorrow?”
The team are tasked with their biggest challenge yet, they have thousands of people’s lives at risk and they have to figure out how to stop Ultron and save as many people as possible.
We also get to see Jarvis literally brought to life and Paul Bettany gets to play a super hero. There is something special as part of the making of him, keep an eye out for it, for those that have seen Guardians of the Galaxy will hopefully get the importance of it.
There of course is a teaser clip at the end, I won’t tell you any more other than it is someone we’ve seen a couple of times through these Marvel films.
There is so much more I could say about this film, but I don’t want to spoil it for you. So go and see it so we can discuss it!
